JetSetTrader’s Personal Guide to Bodrum in Turkey
Stretches of sandy shorelines, bustling restaurants and lively nightlife is what I enjoyed during my recent trip to Bodrum, but this coastal town is one of the most important centers for trade, entertainment and art in Turkey.
Fantastic Scenery in Bodrum
Bodrum offers some of the most fantastic scenery, historical sights, superior hotels and villas, lively nightlife and one of the world’s most famous disco’s, the Halikarnass Disco. Bodrum is relaxing by day and a big party at night.
There is no shortage of beaches here with Bodrum beach being a beautiful beach that turns into a huge restaurant as the sun begins to set. There is Camel Beach where you can ride a camel along the shoreline or Gumbet beach that is a relaxing beach during the day and transforms into a beach club at night.
The two main beach clubs in the area is Bodrum Beach Club and Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay. The Bodrum Beach Club is designed for relaxing breaks. This beachside hotel is picturesque in design with a tranquil pool scene right on the beach front. It offers a selection of on-site activities include a sauna, canoeing, beach volleyball and pool tables, just to name a few.
The Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay is situated on its own private beach and within easy access of all the top attractions in the area, including the Museum of Underwater Archaeology and the Bodrum Castle. This luxurious hotel has its own fully equipped marina and delightful outdoor pools.

My favorite and one of the areas I spent most of my time included Yalikavak, a short taxi ride from Bodrum. This is a trendy holiday destination area on the Bodrum peninsula lined with bars, restaurants, beaches and the beautiful harbor. Yalikavak beach is stretches of sand and pebbles that run around the bay to the town center.
Head along to Xuma Beach, a chic beach with a choice of superior amenities including its own gym and massage center, as well as a great restaurant. Lie in the sun or have a fun game of beach volleyball before the DJ’s take to the bar area in the afternoon turning the beach into a party area.
Dodo Beach Club was a trendy beach on the Yalikavak peninsula which offers watersports by day and a nightclub by night. The music plays all day long as you enjoy water skiing, the fitness center, bar and restaurant. A party goer’s paradise.
When it comes to restaurants in this area, both Sait and Yalikavak Koftecisi will not disappoint. Sait is a great seafood restaurant, combined with a friendly atmosphere and superior service. Yalikavak Koftecisi offers authentic Turkish dining, while the menu is small, the food will delight your taste buds.
Golturkbuku the Small Paradise

The area of Golturkbuku is often referred to as the “small paradise”. This area is located about twenty kilometers from Bodrum, a coastal cove of high-value tourism. A quiet haven away from the bustle of Bodrum, this is a firm favorite destination for many celebrities.
Delightful landing bars stretch into the sea and are used by the hotels and restaurants in the area at night, as the sun sets the landing bars are filled with tables and chairs offering the most magnificent scenery for any evening meal.
Here is where you will find some great beach clubs. Kuum Hotel and Spa is a firm favorite when it comes to beach clubs in this area of Bodrum, this designer hotel is a tranquil paradise that offers all the top amenities including an on-site spa, sparkling pool and superior lounge bar.
Macakizi is another top beach club in the area, this hotel offers rooms with balconies gazing over the water and shaded wooden decks where you can relax before the night begins. There is also a terraced restaurant, pool, outdoor treatment tents and a fitness center, making this one of the trendiest beach clubs in the area.
Mimoza Restaurant in Gumusluk is located on the water’s edge of the harbor. As you sit on the covered terrace and gaze at the boats you get to enjoy some of the amazing food while soaking up the warm and welcoming ambience this trendy restaurant has to offer.
